MUSIC PROGRAMMING

Music at First United Methodist Church is an integral part or worship.  Our style of music in worship ranges from classical to contemporary. Organist Bryan Latimer also plays piano, writes descants, and sings baritone. Music Director and Chancel Choir Director Rod Bieber has degrees in violin from the Universities of Cincinnati and Michigan. Handbell Choir Director Catherine McMichael directs, composes and arranges music for all of the music groups at church and has degrees in piano performance and chamber music from the University of Michigan. Dr. Mary Wagner directs the Children’s Choir and is a music history and scholar and sings mezzo soprano.

Chancel Choir : Directed by Rod Bieber

The choir is a fun group of people that strives to enhance the overall worship experience. The choir meets on selected Thursday nights from 7:15pm to 8:15pm, beginning after Labor Day in September. The choir generally sings at 10:00am service on 2nd and 4th Sundays from May through September.  SEE THE CHOIR SCHEDULE FOR 2024-25 HERE!

What does it take to be a part of the choir? Well, a love of all types of choral music!  The ability to read music is a real plus, but not a requirement.  If you’ve got a good ear and a willingness to share your talents, come check us out.   We welcome younger members and snowbirds as well.

Think about how you can play a bigger part in the life of First United Methodist Church.  The more joyful spirits joining in song, the more powerful the experience for everyone. For more information, contact Rod Bieber at (989)792-4544.
